A minimal closed exterior, A response to coastal wind and sun, with no ornament beyond what the site already gives it. In contrast with the maximalist site-mimicking interior, bringing the spirit of Western Australia's limestone mountains into an everyday space.
A green, water-fed courtyard opens the house from within, limestone underfoot and on every wall, native timber joinery, furniture kept neutral so the stone and the garden stay the loudest materials in the room.
With a soft touch of the coastline ocean tone softening the space and blending it with the courtyard swimming pool and Western Australia's turquoise sky, the only colour cue tying the interior back to the coastline.
Tamala limestone, laid as the primary finish through every interior surface, floors, walls, joinery, and cladding.
